HENRY SCHEIN || THE 2025 INTERACTIVE PLAYBOOK TO BUILDING YOUR DENTAL PRACTICE
8. DISTINGUISH YOUR DESIGN
The look and feel of your practice are all part of your brand, from the signage and parking to the entry and treatment rooms. When we think about design, we often focus on visuals, but the design should encompass all the senses — sights, smells and sounds — that patients and team members experience. Considering all of these elements gives us an opportunity to create a calm environment that fosters patient comfort. For example, incorporating acoustical baffles can minimize treatment sounds from traveling into the waiting area or business office. Your design team should be able to create a look and feel that:
- Allows your team to move through the space and their functions with ease
- Fosters a sense of comfort and safety for patients
- Aligns design features with your clinical needs
- Accommodates future growth
- Is visually appealing and easy to clean/sanitize
Creating an appealing atmosphere is an important investment, leading to positive patient experiences and increased referrals.
GETTING STARTED:
- Create a Pinterest or mood board for inspiration to share with your interior designer.
- Work with your interior designer to provide you with a concept statement. A well-defined design concept is a unifying statement of the overall design intent, providing direction for everyone on the team.
- If your design includes any vertical installations of products or materials, ask your interior designer to create elevations for the contractor. These provide a clear visual representation to guide installation and minimize the risk of incorrect implementation, resulting in more time and money.
- Review room-by-room material pricing with your contractor.
